Corrections policy

If a number here is wrong, we want to know. Email corrections@watt-dollar.com.

What helps

  • The page address, and the figure you think is wrong.
  • What you believe the right figure is, and where it comes from — a bill, a nameplate, a meter reading, a published source.
  • The inputs you had on screen, if the figure came from the calculator. The "Copy share link" button captures them exactly.

What we do

  1. Acknowledge. We aim to reply within five working days.
  2. Reproduce. A figure is only wrong if we can make it wrong; if we cannot reproduce it we will say so and ask for more detail rather than closing it.
  3. Classify. A calculation error, a stale or mis-sourced input, or unclear wording each get a different fix.
  4. Correct. Calculation and data errors are fixed at the source and republished, which updates every page that draws on them. Wording is amended in place.
  5. Record. A correction that changes a published figure updates the page's review date, and material corrections are noted on the page itself rather than silently overwritten.

What is not a correction

A figure differing from your bill is usually not an error in the arithmetic: the site's default prices are regional averages, and its default usage is a typical pattern, neither of which is yours. Enter your own per-kWh price and your own usage first. If it still disagrees, tell us — that gap is exactly what we want to hear about.

Security issues

Security reports go to security@watt-dollar.com; see our security.txt.

WattDollar gives planning estimates, not utility quotes, engineering calculations or a guarantee of savings. Wattages are typical figures — check the label on your appliance and the per-kWh price on your bill for your own numbers.

The calculator runs in your browser and we run no server that stores what you enter, though a share link you create carries your figures in its address. Your rate and appliance list are saved in your browser's local storage so the page remembers them; the site carries Google ads, and Cloudflare serves it. The privacy notice has the detail.
