Affiliate and advertising disclosure
WattDollar may earn a commission when you buy through certain product or service links, at no additional cost to you. Recommendations are selected for relevance, energy-use value, product suitability and source quality — not commission rate. Affiliate relationships do not change calculator results.
Where the money comes from
- Advertising. The site carries display ads through Google AdSense on its calculator and guide pages. Ads are not shown on this page, the privacy notice or the other policy pages.
- Product links. Some links to retailers or service providers may pay a commission on a resulting purchase.
How links are labelled
Every commercial link is labelled where you meet it, not only here:
- A link that can earn us a commission carries, next to it: "Affiliate link — WattDollar may earn a commission at no extra cost to you."
- A link that earns us nothing says so: "This is not an affiliate link — we currently earn no commission from it."
That second label is not decoration. The site's product links are currently plain retailer searches with no affiliate programme behind them, and the pages say exactly that rather than implying a relationship that does not exist. If that changes, the label changes with it — both are driven by one setting, so they cannot disagree.
What commission never buys
- A different number. Calculated costs and savings come from the same engine regardless of what is linked beside them.
- A recommendation we do not believe. Where a product class cannot deliver the saving a reader expects — resistance heaters, EV charging hardware — the page says so, whatever it costs us.
- A placement. Nobody can pay to appear on a calculator page or in a comparison.
